Auckland United are top of the leader board in NZFF lottery ticket sales.
Of the 126 organisations through the country that have signed up to the fundraising initiative, Auckland United lead the way with 137 tickets already sold to their players, members and supporters.
Their eyes are firmly fixed on the main target ‑ for every$20 ticket sold, $10 goes back to their club – and so far, that’s $1370 raised their club, and $1370 more that’s been raised to support football in New Zealand.
Another Auckland club going well with ticket sales is Eastern Suburbs, who are coming a close second place to United with 119 tickets sold.
HOW THEY’VE DONE IT
Auckland United chairman Murray Holdaway says his club’s successful approach has been the simplicity of how members have promoted the lottery and ticket sales.
“We haven’t done anything out of the ordinary. It has appeared in our weekly club newsletter for the last 3 weeks, and will go out again this week. We have posted on our website, reminding our members to select our clubs’ name in the drop-down list" Holdaway told the Foundation.
“We reposted NZFF’s Facebook post on our Facebook page – which has about 2000 followers. And this week we are doing new posts on Instagram and Facebook. We have two home games this weekend – we have been considering handing out small A5 fliers.”
Holdaway says clubs can positively promote the lottery in simple ways, including social media, fliers and word of mouth.
“It’s all pretty standard stuff”.
